One Word from God Can Change Your Day

7 Days to Resurrection
Day Seven – Victory and the Cross
Jesus won the victory for us at the Cross. His resurrection from the dead proves that He is truly the one and only Lord and Savior. Death itself was not big enough to take away his victory. The tomb is empty! Jesus is alive! He defeated death and the power of sin for us. The work of the Cross is complete, accomplished and absolute. Now in Him we have the victory.

Colossians 2:14 (NIV)

He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.

Just like our bodies need a well balanced diet with the proper nutrients our spirit needs a balanced diet with the proper spiritual nutrients.  The only source of spiritual nutrition is God’s Word.   We must read, hear and meditate on God’s Word each and every day.  (Jos. 1:8) God’s Word is our spiritual manna sent down from heaven.  Begin to systematically read God’s Word each day.  Follow a Bible reading plan.  I have one on the resource page of this site.  You can bookmark this page where each day we share a scripture  and tie it to a practical devotional thought.

God’s Word is powerful. (Heb. 4:12)  It will build your faith. (Rom.10:17)  The Word of God is life to those who know it and it brings health to your whole body.  (Pr0v. 4:22)  The solution to every problem you face is contained in Scripture. To be wise you must study it. To be strong in faith you must believe it. To be successful in life you must practice it.

Let me encourage you to become develop a regular and committed devotional time.  You will be glad you did!

Inspiration & Encouragement – Jesus Took Your Place

Breakthrough Encouragement & Inspiration

You Took My Place

You Took My Place

You Took My Place
Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit..” (1Peter 3:18)

One day, a man went to visit a church. He arrived early, parked his car, and got out.  Another car pulled up near him, and the driver told him, “I always park there. You took my place!”

The visitor went inside for Sunday School, found an empty seat, and sat down. A young lady from the church approached him and stated, “That’s my seat! You took my place!”  The visitor was somewhat distressed by this rude welcome, but said nothing.

After Sunday School, the visitor went into the church sanctuary and sat down. Another member walked up to him and said, “That’s where I always sit. You took my place!” The visitor was even more troubled by this treatment, but still said nothing.

Later, as the congregation was praying for Christ to dwell among them, the visitor stood, and his appearance began to change. Horrible scars became visible on his hands and on his sandaled feet. Someone from the congregation noticed him and called out, “What happened to you?”

The visitor said, ” I took YOUR Place!”

Jesus took your place and now you can have life.   Jesus is alive!

Breakthrough for You

In the mean time here 7 Steps to help you -  Breakthrough the Barriers in Life!

Everyone faces barriers in life.  There are many kinds of barriers – physical, emotional, spiritual, circumstantial, financial, educational, cultural, societal, and other limitations that can stop you from moving forward in life.    To live life to the fullest and achieve God’s best for your life, you must be able to overcome these barriers and possess the promised land God has for you.

Every barrier has a solution. There is a breakthrough for you with God’s help. Nothing is too difficult.  God’s Word has the answer for life’s most challenging barriers. The following are 7 proven steps to overcoming any barrier you face:

1. Identify the barrier. If you do not know what is stopping you you can not overcome it or eliminate it.  Often we are the cause of our own obstacles and we continue to keep digging a deeper hole. The first rule of holes is,  “If you are in one, stop digging”.  You need to know what mountain to speak to.

2) Seek God’s direction. Breaking through barriers in life does not come easily or naturally to any of us. Neither does submitting to the Father’s will and direction for our life. Yet God will help us to overcome and guide us through every obstacle when we seek Him. He is a very present help in time of need. (Psalms 46:1). You can find the answers for every barrier in His Word.

3) Listen to God. Giving attention to the Lord’s direction is essential to breaking through the barriers in live.  If you do not discern and obey His voice, you will follow the voice of a stranger and miss your breakthrough. Get in the habit of listening and instantly obeying the voice of the Lord.

4) Keep your focus on Jesus, not the barrier. This is essential to overcoming every negative situation. Don’t be problem focused. Focus on the promises in His Word. Knowing that God is with you and will never forsake you will help you have the confidence to  face every obstacle with hope and perseverance.

5) Stay in faith.   Faith is the opposite of fear. Fear attracts the very thing you fear. (Job said “that which I feared has come upon me”).  Faith is what overcomes and brings victory.  (1John 5:4) When you face every challenge with faith you will be unstoppable! Champions meet every challenge with faith.

6) Rehearse God’s victories. Psalm 63:7-8 tell us, “Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of Your wings. My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me”. It’s important to remember all the ways the Lord has helped you and delivered you in the past so you can remain encouraged in the face of every obstacle.

7) Never quit.  The only way you lose is to give up.  “Don’t grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9) It takes perseverance to overcome. It is through faith and patience we inherit the promises of God. Don’t let the devil discourage you into giving up. Trust in God. He is able to put you over.

God is absolutely faithful in keeping His promises. So as you are confronted by barriers  in life commit yourself to overcoming them by identifying them, seeking God, listening to His instruction, maintaining your focus on Him, recalling His faithfulness in the past, keeping in faith and never ever giving up. Your heavenly Father wants the very best for you, and He will help you overcome every barrier.  Just like Joshua and Caleb we can possess the land – the life God has for us, “ Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it” (Num. 13:30). Your strength comes from the Lord, you can OVERCOME EVERY BARRIER and “possess” the land.

Why Do Bad Things Happen

Breakthrough in Your Future

{The following is an excerpt from the book “God is For You Not Against You”. It is available for FREE on this website.  To receive your free copy just complete the form to the right.}
If God is good then the question asked by many is, “Why do bad things happen and why would a good God allow bad things? It is an excellent question and a legitimate question. However, there is an incorrect assumption made by most Christians and non Christians alike that create and cause most of the confusion, and that is the belief that “God is in Control”. This is the position many people take or at least espouse. However, God is not in control in the sense that most people think. God is sovereign and He is creator of the universe and He has a master plan that ultimately will be carried out, but He does not control the lives of people and events. He has delegated some of His authority and power and allows people freedom of choice.
Let me explain. When God created the human race, He put them in control. He gave them “free will”, the ability to make their own choices. Mankind was given authority (control) in the earth. (Genesis 1:26) However, when Adam and Eve sinned by disobeying God mankind lost their control to Satan and corruption came into the earth that affected all of creation. To illustrate, it is like a landlord giving you a lease on a piece of property and that lease then gives you complete control over that property. Then you sublease it to another who then has the control over the property. God leased the earth to mankind and Adam then subleased it to Satan. This was not God’s plan. If God was in control He would have immediately stopped that transaction.
Everything changed at that moment when Adam lost dominion to Satan. Death, disease, and sin all entered into the earth. The human race and the earth itself were cursed. Man had lost dominion and now Satan became the god of this world. 2Corinthians 4:4 Satan had control.
However, God had a plan. Remember, God is still God and He is all knowing, all powerful, and omnipresent. He knows the beginning from the end. He has control of the overall plan and I can guarantee you in the end He wins. He knew mankind was going to mess up so He had a plan in place. His plan was a plan of redemption for man and to get control back from Satan. God’s plan was His son Jesus. The Bible, Genesis to Revelation, is really the story of Gods plan of reconciling mankind back to Him through Jesus.
Jesus, the Son of God, came into this world first to “seek and save the lost” (Luke 19:10) and second to, “Destroy the works of the devil“ (1John 3:8). Jesus fulfilled His purpose. He acknowledged His work was complete when on the cross, He shouted out “It is finished“. (John 19:30) He had saved the world and destroyed the works of Satan. Colossians 2:15 tells us, “And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.” In other word Jesus took back control from Satan.Jesus then delegated that authority (control) to the church. The church being the people who believe in Jesus. We as Christians now have the power and authority to rule in this world. We have control. God has given us power of attorney to take authority in this world. We are to be submitted to the authority and Lordship of Jesus as we exercise that authority. We don’t have control over people but over the spiritual atmosphere and environment. Jesus put it this way in Matthew 18:19, “Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

Satan is still loose in the atmosphere of this world and He goes about trying to deceive people in order to steal, kill and destroy. So, there are dynamics in place that allow evil and works of darkness to happen where the church does not exercise it’s authority. The main point to understand is God is not in control of all that happens in the earth. So, that opens the door for several different sources to have influence in this world that can cause bad things to happen. In fact there are four main sources of the bad things that happen in the world today:

1 ) The Works of Darkness – this includes Satan and demonic forces
2) fallen earth – this includes the environment, storms, nature, etc
3) Other people – individuals, groups, political activity, nations, etc
4) Our own actions – this includes mistakes, bad decisions, wrong choices, failures, etc
(There is a detailed explanation of all four of the primary causes of  why bad things happen in my book “God is For You Not Against You” . You can have a FREE copy just provide a working email to the right and you will receive a download link immediately. The book also gives you the keys to overcoming trouble and problems in your life and other insights)
