How to overcome doubt? It is very important for you to know how to overcome doubt. Why? Because, doubt is an enemy of your faith. Doubt will rob you of the blessings God has for you and it will keep you from enjoying the victory that Jesus has won for you. The good news is, God has shown us how to overcome doubt and get the doubt out of our life.
How to Overcome Doubt
No one is immuned from doubt. Life can be filled with doubts, doubt about God, about His Word, we can doubt the call God has on our life, and at times we can even doubt who we are in Christ. The important thing is to know what to do when doubt comes. Even the greatest men and women of God in the Bible had doubts, but they knew how to overcome their doubts.
So, how do you respond when doubt comes? How do you get over those walls of doubt? What do you need to do to make it through the valleys of life? How do you overcome your doubts? How do you get the doubt out?
Only one way – by faith!
FAITH OVERCOMES DOUBT
Faith is what moves mountains. (Mark 11:23) Faith is what brings down walls. (Hebrews 11:20) Faith will build bridges over the valleys. It is what moves God and brings blessings and favor into our life. Faith is the fuel that powers us to the abundant life that is ours in Christ, but doubt, if not overcome, will undermine your faith. Stay in faith and you will overcome every and any doubt!
3 STEPS TO OVERCOME DOUBT
Don’t allow doubt to stop or defeat you. You can defeat doubt – here’s are 3 simple, but powerful steps to help you overcome doubt:
One, face and fight your doubt.
Having thoughts of doubt are natural. Moses doubted his calling, Gideon doubted his ability, Elijah doubted God, Sarah doubted the promise of God, Thomas, known as “Doubting Thomas” doubted Jesus was Lord. Doubt is something we’ve all wrestled with. To overcome doubt the first thing you need to do is to decide now and always to face those doubts and fight them. We don’t deny the questions and feelings of doubt that we experience, we FACE them head on. However, we must not give into those doubts. We must FIGHT them. Doubt starts as a seed in our minds. We must resist allowing those seeds to take root. We do that by “casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” (2Corinthians 10:5) Don’t allow THOUGHTS OF DOUBT TO CAPTURE YOUR MIND. Face your doubts, then fight them.
Two, starve your doubt.
If you will only feed your faith your doubts will starve. “Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God.” (Romans 10:17) Doubt grows has you give attention to voices that are contrary to the TRUTH of God’s Word. Give your attention to the Word and your faith will grow stronger and your doubts will grow weaker. Feed your faith God’s Word and you will overcome doubt. Choose to doubt your doubts before you doubt your faith.
Three, keep your focus on Jesus.
Why? Other wise you begin looking at the circumstances and situations you face. You begin walking out your life by sight and that’s when doubt and fear take over. 2Corinthian 5:7 says, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” Life is a like race Hebrews 12:1-2 tells us, “… let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus,”. Whatever you focus on becomes the predominant thing in your life. If you get focused on the problems, troubles, and obstacles they become bigger and bigger. If you stay focused on Jesus He is magnified and your faith is strengthened. Jesus is, “the author and finisher of our faith,”. (Hebrews 12:2) Keep your focus on Jesus it will stop the doubt.
VICTORY IS YOUR – OVERCOME DOUBT
To reach the finish line of your race you must not give in to doubt. This is not the time to retreat, fall back or give in to the enemy, instead I challenge to you press to the end and, like Paul (Philippians 3:14), receive the ultimate prize!
