How to get God’s grace

What do you do when you don’t know what to do? How do you live a successful Christian life? Only one way by the GRACE OF GOD. The million dollar question though, is how do we get God’s grace?  (free book for you at the end of this post)

First, we must realize there is more grace than just the initial salvation experience. Most think of grace only in terms of being saved. “For it is by grace you have been saved,…” (Ephesians 2:8). Praise God! The only way we ever could be saved is by God’s saving grace. However, God doesn’t just give grace to save us from our sin, He gives us grace to live out our life victoriously here on earth. He gives us grace to “stand” Romans 5:2, “through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand...” To get God’s grace we need to know there is MORE!

Second, we need to understand the power of God’s grace. Most only understand grace as “God’s unmerited favor”. While grace is definitely something we can never earn or deserve and while favor is part of God’s grace, it reaches further and deeper than this. God’s grace is His supernatural power and His ability working in us to be able to serve, to do, and overcome life’s circumstances. God’s grace is what helps us to know what to do when know one else does. It is the power to resist the temptations of the world and to accomplish great things for God.

In 2 Corinthians 12 the Apostle Paul learns of this provision of God’s grace for life. Paul had encounter severe opposition every where he went and he prayed for God to remove the source of all his problems. God answered Paul’s prayer, not by removing the problems, but by telling Paul to tap into the grace of God. “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” (2Corithinians 12:9) To get God’s grace we must know and receive the supernatural power and ability that is grace.

Third, we have to stop trying to do life in our own strength and ability. It’s called PRIDE. James 4:6 tells us, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble” WOW – did you catch that? The key to getting God’s grace is – HUMILITY! The “humble” are those who realize they cannot succeed without God’s help. Conversely the “proud” think it’s because of their great ability and ingenuity that they succeed and are quick to take credit. Too often we get caught up in our own works and miss God’s grace.

We must always look to and depend on God, not ourselves. There is never a day that we don’t need God’s grace. God has promised to give grace to those who are humble. The good news is God never breaks His promises. He WILL give grace to the humble.

So, with a spirit of genuine humility “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need “ (Hebrews 4:16) I want to encourage to humble yourself and go boldly to God for more of His grace (His supernatural power and ability) to live the victorious Christian life.   You don’t have to be perfect to get God’s Grace — only willing and humble. That’s how you get more grace.
