10 Days of Christmas -day 10

Jesus reason for the season

Christmas Devotional

10 Days of Christmas – making this Christmas season your greatest ever. Each day receive a short word of encouragement framed by a traditional Christmas Carol and Bible verse. Be blessed!

Day Ten –  Joy to the World (click here to listen to it)– “Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth; Break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises.” (Psalms 98:4) Joy to the World was written by Isaac Watts in 1719 based on Psalms 98. It has become one of our most beloved Christmas Carols. There is no question the coming of the Lord brings joy for the world. However, Psalms 98 is focused on the second coming of Christ. So, should we not sing Joy to the World at Christmas time? Yes we should plus every day we should be declaring  “let earth receive her King”.  It is Christmas everyone “let every heart prepare him room.”! Joy to the world—The LORD is coming again!

Day Nine – Hark the Herald Angels Sing (click here to listen to it)- “And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” (Luke 2:13-14)  Jesus came into this world for a purpose and angels on that glorious night heralded it – “to bring peace to man”. In other words to reconcile man back to the Father.  As this Christmas carol so beautifully puts it, “Peace on earth, mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled”.  This Christmas take time to praise Him for giving you life eternal.  His birth gives us the new birth!

Day Eight – Silent Night –“In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. (click here to listen to it)  “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” – John 1:4 (NIV) The night Jesus was born was anything but silent. The tiny cry of a baby in a manger broke nearly 400 years of silence. God’s people had heard nothing from Him – nothing but silence. Now the thunderous entrance of the Emmanuel into this world brought light to the darkness. Don’t endure “silence” in your life let the King of Glory shine upon your life.

Day Seven Away In A Manger – “And she [Mary] gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, ” (Luke 2:7) Why a manger? Why not in a palace or at least the finest of cribs? One word – humility. This humility would be demonstrated through out the entire life and ministry of Jesus as an example for us. We are to be humble and thankful for all that we’ve been blessed with. God gives grace to the humble. This Christmas receive all the Christ is with thankfulness and humility.

Day SixO Little Town of Bethlehem – (Click here to listen to it) “But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, are only a small village among all the people of Judah.” Even though Bethlehem was considered a tiny and insignificant town, God used it for the most significant of events – the birth of the Savior. Your life is significant to God. Even if you fell unimportant and insignificant you have a divine purpose. As you celebrate Christmas this month remember Jesus makes you significant!

Day Five Angels We Have Heard on High – (click here to hear)  “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” (Luke 2:14) Imagine how the shepherds must have of reacted to the sound and site of those angels! It had to be an awesome and in awe of such a spectacular display. Christmas don’t settle for the ordinary make your relationship with Christ extraordinary!

Day Four – Mary Did you Know – (click here to hear)Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her” Luke 2:38 God chose Mary to be the mother of Jesus and when told that by the angel she simply said yes without any conditions. Do you think she knew her baby boy would walk on water, heal the sick, deliver the oppressed and deliver sons and daughters? More importantly do you know Jesus came to heal, deliver, and save you?

Day Three – O Come Let Us Adore Him – (click here to hear) “We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him.” (Matthew 2:2) The wise men had to travel far to worship Jesus. Today we can enter His presence with adoration and thanksgiving when ever and where ever. (Psalms 100:4). Take time this Christmas season and every day to worship Jesus. Come Let Us Adore Him.

Day Two – O Come O Come Emmanuel – “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Emmanuel (which means “God with us”). (Matthew 1:23) Rejoice that Jesus is with YOU every moment of every day! He is not only with you, but He is for you, before you, behind you, and with in you. Celebrate this Christmas realizing God is With You – always.

Day One – Prepare Him Room (click here to hear) “There was no room for Jesus in the inn.” (Luke 2:7) And today the world still has no room for Jesus. Even as Christians we can become so busy with life we fail to make room for Him. This Christmas remember to MAKE ROOM FOR THE SAVIOR OF THE WORLD – JESUS.
